Blessing of the Fleet
Montauk Town Dock
Annual celebration in which nearly all boats that dock in Montauk try to make their way out of the harbor at the same time, getting Blessed as they pass by the Town Dock. Everyone parties and has a great time on the boats and on land. There are lots water hose fights between the boats and plenty of good natured fun. It's a great way to enjoy your afternoon. (NOTE: Please do not bring or use water ballons as they have been found to be harmful or deadly to sea turtles, which can mistake broken, floating ballons for jellyfish which are one of their favorite foods.)

18th Annual Sprint Triathlon & Relay
Montauk Point Lighthouse
1/2 Mile Swim* 14 Mile Bike* 3.1 Mile Run* USA TRIATHLON Sanctioned Event* NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP QUALIFIER. This fund raising event has grown to 400 participating athletes from near and far. Athletes must register for this event. The finish line is located at the Lighthouse, at the top of Turtle Hill. Family and friends gather to celebrate with the athletes. The awards ceremony includes trophies, gift raffles and a post race continental breakfast.

Shark's Eye Tournament
Montauk Marine Basin
Sport fisherman, scientists, conservationists, artists, tourists and the curious will gather on July 27-28 for an all-release, satellite tag shark tournament at the Montauk Marine Basin, host to the longest-running shark tournament in Montauk. The two-day tournament will be the first of its kind in Montauk. All sharks caught in this tournament will be released — circle hooks only. No sharks will be brought back to the dock. Instead, eligible mako, thresher and blue sharks will be fitted with technologically advanced satellite tracking tags, which will monitor their movements after release. Tagged sharks will be named by the anglers who catch them. Each time the dorsal fin of a tagged shark breaks the surface, there is a ping which will be picked up via satellite. The public will then be able to follow these fish online via the OCEARCH Global Shark Tracker.

Annual LIGHTING THE LIGHTHOUSE
Montauk Point Lighthouse
The Montauk Point Lighthouse will be illuminated with thousands of white lights to herald the beginning of the Holiday Season. The celebration will include live music and free hot cider, cookies, and candy canes. Santa has been invited and is expected to attend. Parking and admission to the lighthouse grounds are free. The lights will be lit nightly from 4:30 PM to 1 AM through January 1, 2014.
