The Viking Star returning through the inlet after a day of Cod fishing in the winter.
The winds were blowing NW 40 MPH + on this typical Montauk winter day.

Unfortunatly the same prevailing strong winter northwest winds pushed this fishing boat, returning home, onto the east inlet jetty in March, 1999. The boat had to be scuttled and removed with a crane.
