Politico's Noise Patrol, a recent article in the EH Independent (June 25, 2003)highlighted the terrible noise violation problems faced by residents and motel owners who live near restaurants & bars that play music at volumes loud enough to be heard outsides these establishments. Some of the businesses mentioned by name were Oyster Pond, Nick’s and the Tipperary. EH Town representatives were quoted as saying that "if there’s an identifiable violation (of the noise ordinances,) an officer will take action." Yet, somehow it seems that the LIRR is completely immune from having to comply with these local noise ordinances that every other business/resident/vacationer is expected to adhere to. How is it possible that such a glaring violation of these town laws could be overlooked?
