there is a lot that the rr is surpose to do but they tell you that they don't. the new engines are diesel but they can be plugged into electric at night. to meet the new regulations of air quality control. also the f. r. a. does have regulations on noise . there is a long list of things a regs about this. senator lavalle and the lirr has a copy of all of them. the model yard that you want to see and talk to people is the port jefferson station yard. also there are walls around 3 yards . with the new engines it really doesn't work well. it could if the rr keep there engines on low and plugged in when they are surpose to.. the plug in was so that the new engines would meet the new regulations on air quality. there is a lot to this please foil( freedom of information act) the sentor and the lirr ...
