A Little of Trail's End History
You are having dinner in the oldest restaurant in Montauk. Trail's End was in one ownership for 57 years until the present owners purchased it in 1983. The original building was situated on Fort Pond Bay where the old town of Montauk was until the hurricane of 1938, when Montauk became an Island for three days. Trails End withstood the attack and the building was moved to its present location, where it served as a gathering place during World War II and a restaurant until the present time.
