The waterbase background color has been applied and is dry. We fabricated the raised lettering by hand in our shop. The letters are meticulously prepared to to recieve gilding with 23kt. gold leaf (traditional method, not vinyl imitation). This photograph depicts the lettering undergoing a test fitting prior to gilding.

The signs are being traditionally gilded in this photograph. When the gilding is complete it is inspected for holidays. A hand spun burnish is applied to achieve mazimum lustre causing light to reflect from the gold surface in many angles. This is a very popular design element.
